M4x Mini-Blade, 2-port The versatile and economical M4x Mini-Blade quickly connects to your laptop via USB to provide voice communication solutions. It has two ports and offers the same easy-to-use software as the eight port M4x Blade for added flexibility. In addition to functioning in all the same ways as a bridge, it provides many more features and capabilities, such as: tone remote control, 2175 notch filter, voice frequency switch.
Event-driven, intuitive software enables you to configure the ports as necessary. It has just the right number of ports to perform the following: VOX and audio delay, DTMF radio channel steering, and troubleshooting. The 4-wire module comes standard with every Mini-Blade. There are other modules available providing greater flexibility. Based on the application, there is a choice of any of the following modules: 4-Wire telephone, 2-Wire telephone, PSTN access, relay, and RS-232. These modules, manufactured by Raven Electronics, provide "access points" for several different types of communication equipment including orderwire, and even alarm and control equipment. Example of a Mini-Blade Application: MULTI-CAST TWO REPEATERS Customer has one repeater on two different decks of a steel ship and wants to transmit the audio that is broadcast over one repeater to the other repeater as well. Two ICOM FR3000 repeaters are linked via twisted pair phone wire for use on different decks of a steel ship. There is no RF penetration between decks and are unable to talk from one deck to another. A two-port Mini-Blade can be placed near one of the repeaters and then connect one port to this repeater. Connect the other port to the repeater on the second level using twisted pair telephone wire. To link the repeaters, the connection points to the repeaters and to the Mini-Blade are shown in Figure 1. When one repeater keys up, the other repeater will key up and broadcast the same transmission. This allows the workers on deck one to talk with workers on deck two. Figure 1:
